The term "HD ready" is not the same as "HD capable".
Buying a HD Ready TV does NOT automatically give you HD TV.
Buying a HD Ready DVD recorder does not automatically give you HD TV either.
The ONLY way to get HD (as far as I am aware) is to either:
1) Have the Sky HD package (with a HD receiver) and viewing one of the HD channels.
2) Have a HD DVD player that plays either BluRay disks or HD DVD disks.
If you can give us the number of your Panasonic DVD recorder we can let you know if it is a HD recorder.
