Just watched an old repeat of this on SKY and we wondered, did Sam ever find his way back home?

In the last episode,Mirror Image,Samleaps into himself in a bar in Pensylvania on the day of his birth.There he meets some people familiar from previous leaps and comes to understand something about why he is leaping.He mends something in Al's life,but he doesn't return home.
A couple of years ago there was talk of a pilot for a new series in which Sam's daughter went leaping in search of Sam.
