Is anyone else watching Extraordinary People's "Half Man, Half Tree"?

Extraordinary documentary about an Indonesian man, who's afflicted with some kind of wart like virus, causing his limbs to grow tree like branches.

I wonder why these conditions seem to be prevalent in poorer countries?

I too felt sorry for his circus friends, who also had terrible afflictions and deformities, but I guess if they have liitle access to medical care, the conditions they have will thrive.

I have seen people in the UK with Neurofibromotosis, where tumours grow randomly over the body and face, but the people in this programme have extreme conditions. Perhaps if it was diagnosed and treated early on, then it probably could have been managed and kept under control.

makes you wonder why he didnt take the treatment....possibly something to do with that freak show circus????

I suppose it's his only way of earning a living, performing in the "freak" show.
I agree that compared to this man, none of us have a serious problem...

I watched that, it was shocking eh. It does make you feel so lucky, cant believe he didnt take the medicine tho, I thought he wanted to care for his lovely kids. Werent they cute?

Hopefully, he'll change his mind. Wasn't it grotesque when the team were made to perform with the child models?

I was horrified when he had to pull the truck with his hair. He didn't seem to look to good afterwards. I can't believe he didn't take the opportunity to sort himself out either. He could've gone back to fishing or whatever it was he did.
