want to cancel sky tv. will i be able to still use my sky+ box to record free channels

I would imagine it would stop working because the Sky viewing card would be cancelled and that's what dictates what channels you can view
but - and I don't have sky so don't know for sure (wouldn't touch it with a bargepole) - I understand a card can be issued to allow freesat stuff.
Sky+ needs a subscription for it to work. If you cancel it the record facility will stop working as will the ability to play any recordings you may have on the hdd. You will still be able to view fta channels on purchasing a Freesat card fro around �20.
