The series Sleepers was on BBC4 last night.I have just looked on Amazon and it is listed as being released in 2007 on region 1 DVD.Why would they only release a British TV series on region 1? Surely there would be a greater audience for it (on region 2) in Britain.
Any retail release of a BBC production (or of any other company) in any format (including DVD) requires a distributor and it appears in the case of "Sleepers" that Acorn Media US, who have a history of providing quality British television to the US market, believe it financially sound to offer this title within the US whereas UK distributors (including Acorn Media UK) have not come to the same decision.
Cheers.
It strikes me as odd.Particularly since this week's Radio Times makes such a big thing about itnot being available. And when you look at some of the stuff that is out on DVD.
