Olympics Closing Ceremony
7 Answers
Does anyone else think the same as I do, that Boris Johnson was a disgrace at the closing ceremony? He looked scruffy!!! I am very proud of our athletes at this years games but I don't think it requires the whole 200 getting an MBE or Knighthood for their efforts.

and why is is being called the 'London Olympics'? (of course I know why really)
I don't live anywhere near the capital and I have a sneaking suspicion that I will be contributing to the cost of it one way or another and I am not in the least interested in sport.

Hi celeryman, One of the papers did have a go but I cant remember which one. Maybe he just thought he was going down to his local!!! What is this country coming to when he is the best representative we can produce. Even I spruce up better than that to go shopping. I know he is the mayor of London, but good lord lets show our best not our worst.
Boris is in a league of his own. Rather than scruffy I would say he is merely eccentric in every way. The whole debate about his jacket being buttoned up or not... he would have looked like Yeltsin if he had!
As for the honours... why should they not be honoured? It is not their job to do what they do as many have regular jobs. That is why tennis should not be allowed in the olympics as it uses professional seeded players.
As for calling it the London Olympics... give me a break. It is named after the city it is in due to it being the best city to support the games at that time.
Can you imagine it being called the Blackpool Olympics? The whole thing would be a farce.
