one the first round when they reach the �1000 target and all have got the questions right how can the announce say that statistics show that ????? is the strongest person?

Because one of them probably answers one question more than the others.

They do it based on the time taken to answer the question. If you 'um and ar', you are perceived as being slower/weaker.

It has nothing to do with speed of answering.
Provided no one gets a question wrong then the person who started first banks the �1000 and is therefore then the strongest link. The next person along is then the weakest link as the amount of money their question was worth was the lowest . Subsequent contestants then become 2nd.3rd,4th weakest etc.

They also take into account who banked money when deciding the strongest link so the person who answered the first question and then banked the �1000 when it comes round to him/her again will always be the strongest link in this scenario and the person who answered question two (i.e. the question worth the least amount of money without banking) will be announced as the weakest link. Nothing to do with length of time to answer, tho the contestants themselves often take hesitation into account when deciding who is weakest.

True, they do take people who bank into consideration. However, you haven't read the question. When they answer a string of 9 answers and win �1000, no one banks..the game just stops. This is when they take time into consideration.

No, the game doesn't just stop, they do have to say bank for that round to finish.
I have seen it before where contestants havn't concentrated on the money and have answered an extra question instead of shouting bank which would have finished the round.
