Acne Scarred British Character Actor

Please help, I was in Canary Wharf today - shopping for Christmas presents - when I spotted a British character actor - unfortunately I can't put a name to anything he has acted in but he is instantly recognisable. He has very badly marked skin from acne scarring and generally plays a 'seedy' type of character - 50 to late 50's in age. If anybody can think of a name I would be most grateful.

Thank you CJ242 IT WAS Christopher Fairbank - I was in a shop and were both waiting to be served and he mentioned about a website where you could have your wrapping done for you but in a rubbish way - he was absolutely charming.

He must live around there!! I live in the area and saw him twice last summer having a beer outside Jamies Bar on the River front!!

J Fontaine - I think most people would not say that he was attractive - but he certainly has an impact and I found him very attractive - and he is a very talented actor.
