Am I cruel, is it just me who laughed when poor little Holly Steele fell apart during her rendition of Edelweiss on Britain's got talent?

Perhaps it's just too much for such a young child to be thrust into the limelight and her mother wanted her to go back and do it again.

Yes Bez, you'd think her pushy mother would have taken her off the stage, instead of wanting her to do it again. Now the poor kid's friends at her school will just take the P out of her.

pushy mum - Holly will break down under further pressure especially in front of HRH. I prefer she be left from performing till older.

Agree, tamb. It's too much for children of that age to be thrust into the limelight. The TV production companies are only interested in their stars making money for them. Pushy mothers like that, are, in my opinion, living their own dreams through their children. Why else would anyone let their little ones go through all that?
considering holly's the same age as the boy who danced..yet he seemed a more resiliant type.
Agree with all the above comments.
I think that BGT should be for 16 and over only. I cannot imagine why any parent would put their child under so much pressure as was evident last night.
Also it's grossly unfair on other contestants that she should have been allowed to sing again. The girly rock group didn't expect a second chance when one of them mucked up the opening notes/lyrics. And added to that the public are suckers for emotional blackmail and I despair that Hollie will win and will be put under even more ridiculous pressure.
as i said in the other thread she was crying with no tears. total put on to win votes.
She was cr@p anyway.

I don't think there should be an age limit. Look at how well 12 year old Shaheen performed. It's about confidence.

Apparently Holly was only entered into the competition so she didn't feel left out because her brother entered. He obviously didn't get through.
Holly.....if she had been a boy, would he have got another chance?.....I fear not.
Why Oh Why does EVERTHING have to be a Competition wtth you lot ? Can't you just enjoy Music and Poetry and Cooking Without making a Competition out of it ?
brionin.....just don't understand your point. Which "lot" are you talking about?

Poetry....competitive...e.g Prof of Poetry at Oxford (Poet Laureate).........naughty goings on.

Music....very competitive.

Cooking....knee deep on TV

Of course we can enjoy them all.

Confused aboutthe point that you are making.
It was totally laughable. She's clearly a spoilt princess who's not used to being told 'no'....pushy mother or not, this girl knows how to manipulate. No surprise the public fell in to the sympathy trap....god forbid she actually manages to win the show. My comments may be harsh, but it's extremely unfair to other contestants (and the public) that she was allowed a second shot. Decent, talented people miss out on a place in the final because of people like her (take the 2Grand/Callum Francis situation Thurs night....blatant sympathy vote). If she wins, I won't be watching the programme again, it's a complete joke.
Totally agree with everything said. When that welsh blokes (Jamie I think) nerves got the better of him he wasn't allowed a second chance.

And I think Simon Cowell calling her the bravest child ever is an insult to much braver children everywhere.

The point I'm trying to make is that all these disciplines are good in their own right . why always Competition? Little girls and boys disappointed -losers at that age. By the way I didn't understand most of your reply. Naughty ? Wot's that innit ?
I didn't laugh but I cringed because I've been waiting for something similar to happen. I've never been in favour of little kids being allowed to perform live in front of millions of TV viewers.

It was an accident waiting to happen and I lay the blame fairly and squarely at the door of parents who expose their kids to such excruciating pressures. They should be ashamed.

What will happen if she dissolves in the live final tonight? Will she be given yet another second chance? Is it fair on the other contestants regardless of her age?
brionin.....the naughty bit.......?

"Ruth Padel, the first woman to be elected to the position, admitted at the weekend that she had e-mailed journalists about sexual harassment claims made against Derek Walcott, the Nobel laureate. "

That was my point....even the Poets have their "competitive" moments.
Well said Paraffin could not have put it better mys self and the rest of your comments everyone.
Holly shouldn't have been allowed to sing again, if anyone else had done messed up, the judges would have said "tough". It is not fair on any of the other contestants. Heaven forbid that she wins, her singing is not that great.
