The great Sir David is now 82. I think he is a wonderful, knowledgeable man who has brought nature to millions.

Who do you think could take over his crown? For me, its Simon King.

Simon King would be a good choice Tizzie as would Chris Packham his Springwatch colleague.
I liked Monty Don from Gardeners World but not sure if he would be up to the task since his illness from which he is recovering

I find 'whispering' Simon King very irritating. I much preferred Saba Douglas Hamilton. She was so passionate about her subject, and so easy to listen to, very enthusiastic without going over the top.

No-one should ever replace the great Sir David... we should realise that the tv programmes have evolved and take on a person that can also speak to the nation without patronising them

Terry Nutkins! Sorry, mention of Chris Packham reminded me of him.

Is Simon that one always lurking on clifftops and in marshes whispering? I find him creepy! Can't stand Kate Humble and didn't really take to Saba, not sure why. Maybe because Dave is the best!

Chris Packham does seem genuinely interested, do also like Bill Oddie (Oddy?), as he has no concept he is on the television and therefore should think about what he says.

I am also still mourning Steve Irwin. I can see how he wouldn't be to everyone's taste and spending half an hour in his presence would probably require you to go and have a lie down in a darkened room, but his enthusiasm was infectious and he knew his stuff having grown up in a zoo.

I guess there are probably lots of people out there, but they just haven't had their 15 minutes of fame yet. What about Bob the big cat keeper at Longleat (bald one with the earring), he always comes across well on Animal Park. He even had Brian the side kick.

If you like David Attenborough I suggest you read his book if you have not done so already.

It is called Life on Air and it is (mainly) about his time on TV from way back in the 1950s to today.

He talks about the early nature programmes he made, flying to remote places to film rare animals, and his later major series like Life on Earth and so on.

It is an amazing book
