54 episodes of Columbo
33........................Morse
64........................Poirot
42........................A Touch of Frost
76........................Midsomer Murders

This is one of the television genres that we enjoy.
With so many episodes to choose from, why do the BBC and ITV (mostly) only show a very few and show them over and over again.Obviously I dont count them but this afternoons Columbo 'Uneasy Lies the Crown' must have been broadcast at least 5 times in the last 12 months.

i know, i seem to see the same ones over and over again.

I wish they would repeat Miss Marple with Joan Hickson - she was fabulous as Miss Marple, but they're never on!
I must have seen all the Frosts about 4 times....
I've been here before...I used to be a fan of the 1970s TV series "Colditz" but for some reason it was never ever repeated, except for one single episode (the one where one of the prisoner feigns madness and eventually becomes deranged).

On the radio, I used to enjoy repeats of the 1950s series "Hancock's Half Hour" but they only ever repeated shows from the last three series. (Of course, I later discovered that the BBC no longer had them. They have since been retrieved from various sources.)

The tricky problem of repeat rights is sometimes behind this problem. Maybe other ABs who know more about this than I do can elucidate.
