Are there any REALLY OLD people out there who can remember the original showings of this great programme and if there are, can they clear up a point and settle an argument? The point is made that when Bamber Gasgoine asked the question to the team he then started a clock and the time was shown on a large clock,on his desk,ticking the time down.(Usually about 30 seconds or so.)
Was this correct?

I don't remember a ticking clock in UC. There was one in the early Countdown shows...

Did they, at some stage, superimpose the shot of a clock as an inset into the main picture?

there used to be a knock-out round in some weeks against the clock to decide a clear winner I think, but it's along time ago and I can't be sure

I don't ever remember there being a clock. I do remember the Countdown clock, that came to mind as soon as I read your post - there is also a clock on Millionaire, on Phone A Friend.

I remember towards the end they had a thing that lit up on Bambers desk - but I am sure it went to ITV for a series - I think I will wikie it
