Don't think it was Dixon of Dock Green Matt. They started in 1955 and completed their 100th episode in 1960. Could it be an American series?

I did find this http://www.flickr.com...s/4638427150/sizes/l/ which shows a page from the Radio Times for that day, but unfortunately only 1 page.

I've checked Doctor Who and Dad's Army, and it's neither of those.
