what an awful dilemma for Rhona in Emmerdale?

Her unborn baby has Down's Syndrome and she is now faced with choosing to keep the child or having a termination, I can't imagine (in real life) what that could do to you, what a dreadful choice to have to make and Congrats to the show for tackling such a sensitive subject, I have been fortunate enough to meet a few Down's children/adults, what a joy they are too

Jack, I think that in retrospect the ones who are coping would not change it, as for the others, they definately would!..................there is a choice now, but it's never going to be an easy choice given that they cannot know the level of Downs until after the birth!...........obviously some will opt to abort, they will be afraid, only natural!............

the tests dont just test for downs and mothers should be made more aware of the others. My mate had the test and her baby had edwards syndrome, the baby wouldnt have lived much past 2yrs and would have been on methadone all its life to ease pain. My friend aborted baby girl at 5 months and had to give birth to her dead baby. She was perfect didnt look deformed at all. My friend knows she made right choice and had a healthy boy a year ago x

I look after a Downs lad, and whenever I need something doing to my computer or phone, he is the one I go to. He lives in a private house with another lad, paid for from their benefits, and they do all their own shopping, cleaning etc. He lives as normal a life as he can and his parents know he will always have a home as a trust has been set up to ensure he has people to supervise. His sister was pregnant recently, and she did not have the test, even though her brother was Downs (although I realise its not hereditary). Although I l love him to bits and he enjoys life I personally would not go through with a pregnancy if I knew the child had Downs and I wonder why so many still do. Be interesting to ask if the parents would do it all again if they had the chance
