Alice In Wonderland (2010)

14:07 Wed 30th Jun 2010 |

Alice In Wonderland is one of the world’s best loved stories. Originally published in 1865 by Lewis Carroll the story along with the sequel, Alice through the Looking Glass, are a brilliant way to introduce children to strange ideas and new concepts that do not necessarily fit in with our world.

In this newest version the director, Tim Burton, takes Alice back to the wonderland of her youth. Alice is now an unpretentious and individual 19-year-old and she has convinced herself that her trip down the rabbit hole when she was six was all in her mind. After escaping from her won engagement party she again tumbles down a hole in the garden when she spotted an unusual rabbit.

Tim Burton has taken the story and made it more in a sequel than a remake. This film is significantly darker in tone than the classic Disney film or even the original books; however, it is a family film which in places is very funny.

The quality of the cast involved makes this a truly memorable film. Helena Bonham Carter (Red Queen), Crispin Glover (Stayne) and Johnny Depp (Mad Hatter) in particular really go to town with their characters and end up creating something truly memorable.
