Alvin And The Chipmunks

Alvin And The Chipmunks is a family fun movie. Based on the 1950’s animated series created by Ross Bagdasarian. There are now two Hollywood films starring Jason Lee, David Cross with the voices of Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler and Jesse McCartney as the chipmunks.

For anyone that has young children these two films are a must. Both are funny and have good sing along sound tracks. The plot is fairly straightforward so the youngsters can understand who the good guy is and who the bad guy is. The bad guy isn’t too scary or unrealistic and the good guy isn’t too pathetic and gets the girl at the end of the first film.

The animation of the chipmunks is superb and you cannot ‘see the join’, plus the voices are amazing despite the electronic manipulation.

The group consists of three singing animated anthropomorphic chipmunks: Alvin, the mischievous troublemaker, who quickly became the star of the group; Simon, the tall, bespectacled intellectual; and Theodore, the chubby, impressionable one. The trio is managed by their human father David Seville. In reality, David Seville was Bagdasarian's stage name, and the Chipmunks themselves are named after the executives of their original record label. The characters were an unprecedented success, and the singing Chipmunks and their manager were given life in several animated cartoon productions, using redrawn, anthropomorphic chipmunks, and eventually films.
