Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is an action adventure film. The fourth in the Indiana Jones franchise the film was created by George Lucas and directed by Steven Spielberg. Released 19 years after the previous film it is set in 1957 and so the apparent age of Harrison Ford is acknowledged.
Despite the huge success of the original trilogy many audiences found this latest Jones escapade was only a partial hit. Due to overhyped marketing and secrecy the box office take was a financial success but fan reaction was mixed. Some viewers found the plot over complicated and packed with too many characters to keep track of. To keep aesthetic continuity with the previous films, the crew relied on traditional stunt work instead of computer-generated stunt doubles.
Harrison Ford is still as charming and handsome as ever and he is now joined by a younger version of himself in his son played by Shia LaBeouf. Also returning is Karen Allen as Indiana’s lost love from Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Almost twenty years after the last adventure we see Jones still as a professor and still getting into trouble. Now he is up against the Russians who are looking for a famed Crystal Skull which may have magical powers.
