It's Complicated

It's Complicated is a very funny romantic comedy. It stars Meryl Streep (Jane Adler), Steve Martin (Adam) and Alec Baldwin (Jake Adler). The three are mixed up in a love triangle romp which shows just how complicated life can be after divorce. Written and directed by Nancy Meyers of The Parent Trap fame.

The film has been described as very funny and is a good vehicle for Meryl Streep who is coming into her own as a comedic actress in later life after all her serious and dark roles. The chemistry between Streep and Baldwin is fantastic and makes the film. However, some have said that Steve Martin’s performance was not big enough and people were expecting some of the Martin magic to put a gloss on the film.

Meryl and her gaggle of upper middle class women friends create a charming portrait of the sexy middle-aged American woman in glory. The film delightfully reveals the emancipation of both the middle-aged modern man and woman in a world of laptop webcams and internet sexual revolution gone awkwardly wrong.

The film has been nominated for several awards and has won Best Cast at the National Board of Review Awards.
