Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope

08:55 Fri 09th Jul 2010 |

Star Wars Episode IV - A New Hope is an epic space adventure film. The original and some say the best in the Star Wars series it was written and directed by George Lucas. The filmed starred some relative unknowns who went on to major stardom including Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher.

The film was a fantastic success at the box office and is still in the top 25 highest grossing films of all time after thirty years. Audiences were wowed by the then state of the art models and special effects in the film and even now fans still say this method of animation is still more realistic than CGI. The film was basically an action adventure movie set in space; however, the vision of Lucas was such that the whole universe of Star Wars came to life with this the first film.

The plot is fairly straightforward, the bad guys lead by the Emperor and Darth Vader are plotting to take over the galaxy and the good guys lead by the remnants of the Jedi Knights are trying to stop them. The Death Star is the new evil weapon which is used to destroy planets and the rag tag rebels must find a way to disable it before it is fully operational.
