The Dark Knight

The Dark Knight is an action adventure superhero movie. Based on the DC Comics character Batman the film is a sequel to 2005's Batman Begins. Christian Bale reprises his lead role as Bruce Wayne/ Batman and Heath Ledger is his arch nemesis the Joker.

The film was received extremely well by the majority of audiences. This may perhaps be surprising as this is a sequel and usually people are not as impressed by sequels. The tale is very dark and quite different to the first film in that it is more of a convoluted, gritty crime thriller which happens to feature a super hero.

Audiences were impressed by the special effects and action scenes. Some viewers, however, were disappointed in Bale’s performance as Batman and were not keen on his lowered voice.

The story starts when the Joker robs a Gotham city mob bank. While investigating the robbery Batman becomes involved with Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) a new district attorney and plans to get rid of the mob in Gotham city. When the Joker takes over control of the gangsters in the city the fight for justice gets that much harder for Batman.

Tragically Heath Ledger died shortly after filming was completed.
