Sorry if this question has been asked before but really need to know this. I have found a very small crack in my windscreen and do not want it to go any further. I have been told that if I put superglue in the crack then this will stop the crack spreading. Is this correct and if it is not then what can I put there instead?

Do I have to get a professional to do this or can I do this for myself?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Get a pro. It's usually covered by your insurance...
OH had a crack in his windscreen for years, it never spread and it got through MOT. You can usually claim for windscreen replacement on your insurance without losing your NCB.
its normally covered by the insurance

Or paying any excess.
Friend of mine had this done recently he found there was a £50 excess on windscreen repairs on his insurance policy

You don't want to believe all you read on adverts!

You can do it yourself - Halfords sell a kit, and I've used it myself - it's OK but a bit fiddly and quite expensive

At £30 it's not really all that worthwhile over a professional
Depends where the crack is on your screen John, is it in your line of vision? the thing is the damage is always there & it does not matter what you use to stop it, at times it can extend if you hit a large pot hole etc, if you are handy & depending on the car you can get a replacement from a scrapie but taking it out, Well that can be done, but time has to be taken especially with a bonded screen. do not be tempted or members of your family to press against it as this furthers the line of the damage. there is only one solution, New.

Thanks for your speedy answers, folks, but still a little confused. Can I used Superglue in the crack or not? Clearly I could do this but must not press too hard on the screen as this may further the damage.
If money is tight John give it a try, but I know what avenue I would go. the crack will alway be there, it could last a week or an year but if in your line of vision it will fail the MOT.
At your next insurance renewal make sure you get a good windscreen deal........then hit it with the ommer!
What have you to lose by trying superglue?

I've lost count of the number of windscreens I've had go on a frosty night, having hit a stone a few days earlier.
