1 Answers
hi there
can anybody help me, does anybody know what wires go where on the coil and distributor on an imp, i have 2 wires going into 1 spade connector and a single wire going into another spade connector which one goes on the + side and which one goes on the - side of the coil and also on the distributor there is only one connection which comes from the contact points and one connection to the temp sender unit which is screwed into the cylinder head which wire goes where, the single one or the double one, any help would be appreciated

Assuming your Imp is negative earth then the wire leading from the negative side of the coil (should be marked '-' and is almost certainly the single wire) goes to the points. The wire that fits to the positive side (marked '+') is the live feed. The car will run with the wires the wrong way round but it burns the points out quickly and the car won't be happy. Check the negative wire goes to the points and you are about there as the engine is very simple.
Good luck.
