If you can not "Pick" out the snapped part of the key you will have to remove the barrel, lower the Steering shroud, before going futher on this, with respect, can you sort this out yourself? It's not a tough job but fiddly.
To add, with effort you can snap the steering lock but that will mean more work involved.

It may pay you to have a look in the Yellow pages for a lock smith, they will most likely have special tools to get the broken part out. It may even be cheaper in the long run and you won't have to have two different keys ( one for the door and One for the ignition ).
