So what would she have got in this country ... probably 120 hours community service and a year's driving ban which she would ignore of course.

The UK isn't that soft!!

The US are extremely harsh in their sentencing but people do get out on parole.

The UK do jail people for DD even if they don't kill people!!

Is the maximum sentence for causing death by dangerous driving about 10 years? I remember a case where a drunk driver crashed into a group of children and killed three of them. He got 7 years. I don't know what someone would need to do to get the maximum sentence.

Sandy....I think each case is judged individually.

Death by dangerous driving could be someone on the phone or someone changing a CD.

Not quite the same as someone being bladdered and plowing into a group of people.
