The left hand indicator on my 53 Toyota yaris doesn't return to neutral when I straighten out again. Is it easy or possible to adjust myself?

You can adjust if you know what's involved Tooj, it involves removing the plastic trim surround that's Around & below the steering, these are held together by either 3>>4 Phillips & Torx Screws, make sure the Surrounds are free & move them slowly, look in the direction of the Ind Arm that surround the Steering, you will have to suss out the Adjustment from there, expect the job to take an hour or so.

They work on 2 plastic Toggles Chris return to centre when a plastic Circular ring attached to the Inner Steering Shaft ( Out of View to your eyes until these plastic trims are removed)

I suspect it is worn out, and you need a new indicator stalk.

I managed to change mine on an Astra, but it wasn't easy.

I guess it's something you can get used to. My "tic toc" isn't very loud as well.

Chrissa / Tooj, do not jump for new part until you have looked into the Problem, If you can not manage to sort out the job yourself have a word with your local auto Electrician, Not KF, Not your Dealers.

It's worn out or broken TWR, probably from holding the switch down to stop it cancelling.

New part needed.

Type in the make / Reg of your car, it will ask you the part needed, expect to pay "£20>>>£40, If you decide to go that way, then this involves the removal of the Steering wheel, to complete the job, around 3.1/2hrs, to get someone to do it, expect to pay £40, that's what I would charge, before purchase ask the seller / scrap Yard are they 100% sure this is the part you need.

I did not mention a garage Dereck, that's what I would have charged, a garage, £100+ & it would not be a 2nd hand part.
