If someone has had 2 consecutive cars that needed a head gasket replacing is it purely bad luck or is it down to the driving style of the driver.

Thanks

Sounds like bad luck then DC. But Peugeot could be the common denominator. They do have a bit of a bad rep in this dept.

How do we know when you don’t describe the driving style?

Yes good point Zacs, my bad.

Its just general motoring eg some motorways but generally its 5/6 miles a day to work and then back home, maybe it increases to 10 for food shopping. If it helps its a Peugeot 207 (previous car was either a 306/307)and is 11 years old.

Compared to my car history Ive not had a car needing a head gasket, previous car was 12 and a half years old when I sold it (was a Peugeot 206).
Poor maintenance could add to the issue..especially if coolant/oil were allowed to run low.

Not sure if that's helped Zacs.

Thanks Ryzen, good point, will make a note to check fluids.

Thanks Zacs and Ryzen, that's what I'm thinking too, maybe we let the levels get too low.
