Are you allowed to let your car tick over in icy weather if it is in your own driveway?
Many thanks.

Yes but beware, tea leaves love that!
Jamjar; I hope not. But people who do that are unlikely to get nicked, so don't worry about it. Just don't do it - your exhaust is pumping poison into the air.
If stolen, the insurance company won't pay out. Leaving keys in the ignition and the vehicle unattended would be considered negligent and against T&C's.
Of course why wouldn’t you be?
However it is known that car thieves go around on cold mornings looking for this scenario
not on the frog though, rule 123 HC.
Use the spare key to lock the vehicle while it's idling.
No-one worried about air pollution? Maybe you don't live in London?
a friend of mine had her jamjar thus stolen off her drive, then used in an armed robbery then chased by the police. Written off + 2 police cars written off. Her insurance had to pay the lot, even for the barriers on the motorway!
Is It Illegal To Engine Idle In A Driveway?

The rules on whether you can be idling on a private driveway are not clear, as it would depend on whether the driveway would be classified as a road or not. Annex 4 of The Highway Code states that references to ‘road’ “generally include footpaths, bridleways and cycle tracks, and many roadways and driveways on private land (including many car parks)”.

doug he's talking about a private driveway, of course it's legal.

stop being TCL doug. It's obvious what he means. Rule 123 of the HC covers the public stuff and I mentioned that at 19:16
Watch it, even that charlatan Mayor of London will catch onto this one....
TORATORATORA, the RAC agrees with the advice given about driveways not being cut and dry.
I'll see your TCL and raise you an AH.
doug the OP says "Your Own" - ie owned by or rented by. Pretty clear what he's asking.
//... the RAC agrees with the advice given about driveways not being cut and dry.//

The RAC (and indeed the AA) also gives highly misleading and sometimes factually incorrect information about many motoring matters. So you need to treat their advice with caution.
Can you really not see the 'and driveways on private land' part?
...i'll raise you a judge!
His judgeship appears to be commenting on wrong info given by motoring organisations, my C&P is credited to The Highway Code.
