faulty electics

I have a 1.2 l-reg corsa i just wont start when key turn.there is plenty fuel,new spark plugs and distributer leads,han it checed over by a good friend mechanic he says possible sensor near the starter moter, do i need to go to a garage to replace it or could i do it my-self
