Hi my r- reg saxo has recently started making a squeeling noise. It happens mostly when the heater is on, when the engine is cold and when accelerating at low gears? does any1 know what is causing this and how urgently i should have the problem delt with?? thanx

I doubt it would be the cam belt slipping - serious engine damage would normally happen if this occured.
" Fan belt " would be an old term used for what would now be known sometimes as the auxillary drive belt.
Most likely it is worn/slack and if it has been on for any length of time. If the condition of it hasn't deteriorated too much it can be tightened up- there is usually an adjustment at the altenator etc. - just don't over tighten it or you could stress a bearing of a component that the belt drives.
