car lights

Hi i have a ford ka 1998. i just took it down the car place down the road as none of my lights are working apart from the brake lights and reverse lights. therefore i cant drive in the dark. he has checked the bulbs and fuses on the front lights and it is not these he mentioned something about the electrics!! can you help at all and tell me the sort of price it will cost me and is it a big job??
