astra oil loss!

i have a astra merit 1700 TD, i just put another 2nd hand head on it and now oil is coming out the vent on the rocker cover and thru the sump seal, any iseas? thanks Paul

Did u get the 2nd head pressure tested ?

no i didnt get head pressure tested, am beggining to think its the preasure relieve valve blocked, may have got some wire shavings from wire wool in holes when cleaning top of block, going to av a look tomoz, let u know if i get a result, thanks bud am still open to suggestions! thanks Paul

sounds to me like gas from cylinders getting to oilways causing your probs.......sure gasket is ok / correct? could be by chance tha bottom end not so good but you assume it is the head as it is what you have been doing. I had this!!

Thanks guys, am gonna put some new rings in &fix the turbo now the pressure is forcing oil thru it! is there anything you can do with a cracked head instead of getting another one? is there some liquid you can put in the water let it run for 10 min then drain off and leave to dry? av heard some one did it but dont know if its just if the water ways are cracked. thanks P
