losing power

i have a 1.8 tdi focus and when driving the bat light is on i have just got a new one and its stil on and it will not start some time can any one help

Is the drive belt slipping so the generator isn't charging the battery whilst driving??

Get the alternator and wiring checked by an auto electrician it sounds as though the battery is not getting charged.

Ideally this should have been done before the new battery was fitted to determine exactly which component was faulty
