What's the best way to get discount on a new car?

Hi,

I am in the early stages of buying a new car, at the moment it is �24k, what kind of discount can I get and how do i go about asking for it?

Buying a new car cash makes no difference. It is actually more costly for the dealer to accpet cash as someone has to go to the bank and cash it in.
spaced,dont be daft,paying by cash,does not mean take �20k in the showroom,it means not taking credit or part exchange,you will get a better deal with cash,ie bankers draft etc.wake up,spaced me old son.
yup norman is right about cash
tell the dealer you have only around �20 -22k to spend - unless you suggest he does a really great deal you might be prepared to spends ...oooh say .....�24k ....perhaps
im not being daft but speaking from experience from both trying to haggle using cash and being a fleet manager, norman me old son ;-)
