Can any one help me? The engine manigement light keeps appearing on my 1tr Corsa. When this happens, my car loses a considerable amount of power. I cannot find the cause for this problem and its driving me crazy. Any ideas would be very welcomed. Thanks.
Rik.

Take the car to a garage with the proper diagnostic equipment and get the fault code read - the reason it loses power when the engine management light comes on is that it switches to an emergency running program to get you home.
Could be just a faulty sensor.
sounds like you may have some dodgy petrol which has being reported on the national news. Lots of people around the uk have had similar problems with this and the current advice is to get the car to a garage if you think you may have contaminated petrol...
it said on the news this morning that the fuel problem wasnt affecting fords or vauxhalls.
i had the same problem with my 02 corsa and i had to get a ECU replaced ....fortunately under warranty.
Where do you buy your petrol?

Thats for all the help guys. Im not sure if its anything to do with the petrol I use. I always use the same total garage, and I dont think they are affected. The soundest advice would be to get it in the garage I guess and have it tested. The faulty sensor could be the answer im looking for and seems very likely. Thanks again!

Oxygen sensors do fail, and it may be a coincidence if it happens now, but there may be a shortage of parts!
