Astra Diesel Fuel Pump

I have a vauxhall Astra that has 72,000 on the clock. The engine management system wont allow the car to start. The garage suspects a fuel pump failure but given the cost and time to fit it that it might not be worth doing. This leaves me with a financed car that is no good. Anyone know any other options?
