2002 - Renault Clio

I have a clio, but I've got an annoying problem with it.
Sometimes, not all the time, but sometimes, the car won't start. The key is turned & the engine just goes over & over. I've tried swapping keys & now got a new fob battery. It's very annoying because I haven't got alot of money to take it to a maindealer or specialist, & it doen't even happen all the time for them to diagnose the problem. Not sure if it is a common fault?
Sorry for waffling, but I hope someone can shed some light.
