focus engine warning light

i own a 1.4 ford focus. recently every 20ish miles the engine warning light becomes illuminated and the rev counter and speedometer flicker between 0 and the correct reading. When the counters read the correct amount the light goes off. Just wondering what this could possibly be as the engine is running fine.

Any ideas?

Sounds like the speed sensor on the gearbox is faulty.
