When I went to collect my car from the garage they told me that the Flywheel was broken not a few teeth missing. The car starts intermittently one minute it will then next it can take up to 10 turns of the key. The garage told me second time round that I wasn't starting the car properly. I've only been driving for 15 years + so think I can do that properly. Even Renault told me to leave it for 30 seconds before turning key!!! Anyway it is actually being fixed on Tuesday.
Thank you again for your help.

some deisels they do advise waiting 5/10 seconds to start the car to let the heater plugs work. how can they tell the flywheel is broken when the dont even have the gearbox out??maybe what they mean is the ringgear is damaged thus the starting problems but on most cra sthe rin gear is detachable from the flywheel so can be replaced on its own.
