l accidentally put petrol in a 2006 diesel freelander. l put 23 litres and drove the car for 500 metres back home. l called landrover dealer who have quoted me 4070. l feel its too much. l would appreciate to get some advice before l take any action and l cannot afford the kind of money they are asking.
A lot of dealers a "scamming" people this way by claiming that fuel tank, high pressure fuel pump, fuel lines and injectors all need replacing when in a majority of cases all you need to do is drain the tank, change the fuel filter and fill up with correct fuel
I would try a non franchised garage, ask friends for any recommendation, and get estimates from a couple of places
I hope this helps and you get sorted soon
What harm can it have done? can't you just have it syphoned out, I thought it was ok to put petrol into diesel but not the other way round, or am I completely wrong?
As Norman says, we need to know exactly what they quoted you for. I did the same thing once and had the RAC come out. They took it away and drained the tank and charged me around 400. Is using the RAC or AA an option for you? (You could always drive it to a garage and call them in case they aren't interested because you've taken it home).
sometimes u get away with it sometimes u dont, diesel as a heavy oil lubricates the inside components of a fuel injection pump hence the reason sometimes it has to be replaced and on some cars its a major job.
Yes MB, I "accidently" drove on the wrong side of the M62 causing a coach to crash and kill 22 people. But I was unharmed so everything is O.K., so now I "accidently" ignore red traffic lights, "accidently" take no notice of speed restrictions.
Well I accidently filled my petrol car with diesel and went on the motorway outside lane doing 80. Of course it suddenly cut out and I lost control, swerved all over, making twelve vehicles in all crash.
But when the policeman got around to asking me what part I played in this carnage, I simply explained that I had "accidently" filled with the wrong fuel. He said "That`s O.K. we all do silly things sometimes - on your way lad"
no clever sod its the amount of times ive popped your sister you f u c k i n g clown!!! in my 10 years of driving various different cars of my own and through work which were both petrol and diesel i have never even came near to making a stupid f u c k i n g mistake like puttingthe wrong fuel in as coincidentaly the diesel pump is black and the unleaded pump green and it also tells you on the f u c k i n g nozzle which fuel it is !!! HOW MUCH MORE EASIER IS IT FOR THESE CLOWNS OTHER THAN TO LOOK AT WHAT PUMP THEY HAVE IN THEIR HAND!!!ITS NOT F U C K I N G ROCKET SCIENCE
