Fiesta brakes grinding
7 Answers
My fella's S reg Fiesta is making a gridning and squeeking sound when applying brakes. Also steering wheel shakes when braking at 40-50mph or less.
Early Jan he had his brake pads done. We asked an RAC guy who came out for my car and he said it could be brake discs. what do you think? When the garage done the pads, should they not have checked the discs too? If it is discs how much are we looking at.

At a cost to your car for 2 App 18.20 I would replace the lot, The sound you say is the Pads, The Steering is the Imbalance of the Disk being Warped ( Out of line) I would recomend you replace the Pads & the disks, As regards the Pads, Take them back under Warrantee they should have lasted longer than that
it sounds like the discs.... maybe the garage did consider mentioning it that the pads , needed replacing , but in that instance , they probably considered to keep the costs down , they just changed , brake pads only...... the steering wheel shaking at 50 mph ... could be down , to the discs ... but not exactly sure..
we will take it in tomorrow to the garage that did the pads and ask them to look at the disks and pads again and you're right we will not pay for the pads this time. I cant believe that after 3 months, theyve probably gone. The other thing is that we went into the garage after about 4 weeks because the noise has been there right from then and was told it's the pads wearing in which sounded feesible to us. But as time has passed it's got worse.
Hi lamparluver, It is not advisable to use cheap pads as some of these garages do, If they would have used GOOD in the first place apart from the disks this job would have been right the first time, Again to the Pads when theyi nsert new pads in the caliper they should use Copper Grease on the metal part of the pad this stops Sqeaks, Again to the Disks apart from the age of the car the price i stated should be about right, 20.
