How long should dipped heatlight bulbs last?. May current car, Skoda Fabia and previously a Seat Leon both got though dipped heatlight bulbs as about one year each side. I do not do regular night driving and only switch them on 2 or 3 times a day at most. I can not remember my cars before getting though them so quickly. Is it common with new cars or is it a VW group thing.

They should last a fair time Colin, have you changed the bulbs for some fancy ones? that's one area, I would remove the connecting plugs N/S + OFF/SIDE clean the contacts within the plug with a very thin File, (With the Ign) off) smear a light coating of copper grease & replace.

Thank you for the reply, the Leon had some 'RING' bulbs from small shop, who said when I went for some more 9 month later that people were complaining that they were not lasting. More of the rest were Halfords, funny how both sides seem to go very close together. I had both cars from only a few months old and they both got though bulbs quickly from the start.
its a common fault with skodas buy a better car next time its only a skoda buy 2 candles for it might go faster
