rover 416 wont start

hi just before christmas my car wouldnt start all it would do was click on turning key my mechanic friend took off starter and tested it yup looks broken as shaft was seized brought a new one put it on starts first time. today yet again same problem clicks wont start, wont bump wont jump HELP PLEASE

Bad connection at the starter, or Flat battery.

hi the battery is fully charged have tested all connections and re connected have ttaken off starter and when off car it works so not starter but as soon as you put it back on car it just clicks would this be solenoid problem although is a new unit ??

sounds like a bad earth on the battery or engine, try cleaning and refitting the earth strap that goes from the battery to the engine block (clean both ends)

Hi Jellyphod, with the starter out, try a direct feed to the starter from the battery this will tell you if you have a solenoid problem, it will also indicate what I have stated in the first post.
