Never having cause to use the spare key, I was surprised when I did to find that when unlocking the car the alarm activated and although the key turned over the engine, it wouldn't start it. Any ideas before I let the dealer charge me �75 per hour labour to fix it?

key faulty.low battery if fitted in key,out of synchronisation with car,consult handbook first.
