reference ,my possible steering reck problems, I have been advised by a locak garage that on inspection there seems nothing wrong with the steering rack. Suggestion now is that the 'camber' may be wrong. I thought camber was on the road, not on the car. What is he talking about please?

Yes you do have camber and it can be negative or positive.
Simply put it is the angle (MAY NOT BE OBVIOUS BY LOOKING) or slant a wheel takes top to bottom away from or to wards a wheel fender for example, in the straight ahead position.It can also be in front or back wheels.
The seemingly easy example I may give is have a closer look at any merc car in full lock situation the camber is a bit evident due to the design aspect of its suspension.
