Golf tdi
Just had my 8 year old golf tdi ,52 k on the clock mot'ed Garage said when they checked the exhaust gas on high revs it wouldn't slow down and stayed on full speed
even with the key out
I don't know for how long or how they stopped it but
now ive got a bill fo 600+labour for the turbo thats been replaced but they tell me its still got a rattle and it could have damaged the pistons and valves , . they also suggested that because I don't drive it fast enough the slight oil that gets through the turbo builds up in the cooler' ,they drained a half point out of it when changing the turbo , is this possible for all these things to happen
All the best

On a runaway engine like this, it's almost impossible to stop them.
Most likely on the rattle is big end shells. But they are correct, outside chance it is pistons.
