Coollant warning like on Mercedes SLK
Last night, my coollant warning light came on. Checked all the levels - all OK. Belt looks OK. But fan does appear to be making a funny noise.
However there is another thing which is completely empty but I don't know what it is. It is located just behind the fan belt and to the far right of the coollant well and is a small black container with a black screw lid. Clearly its not something that I am meant to fiddle with, but I would like to know what it is. It's not the coollant, oil, brake fluid or washer thing. Ive taken the lid off and its not pressurised. Any ideas please?

Oh nice one !! Be good if you get off then :o) Good to see you're still working very hard as usual lazy elbow !
Should try and answer the old trouts question I suppose - BM - my coolant light comes on every day on my car when the temperature drops - it's been to the garage and they say it is just hypersensitive, doesn't need a top up with coolant or anything - I usually switch the engine on and off a few times and it goes off lol !!!
