i have a vw passat, 2002, estate auto, and the lights that should come on when i open the doors, dont.

there is a switch above the driver, and all the lights actually work when turned on manually, but whichever position i put the switch in, they still dont come on...i know the effects probably change when the doors are locked unlocked, open when swicth is moved etc etc ...there are 3 options -

does anyone have a manual for this vehicle, or own this vehicle and can tell me which position the switch should be in?

thanks

Open the door, around the frame there will be a button that may be stuck or the earth may be loose or corroded.
I agree with Everton, the doorframe button could be stuck or corroded ( I know this from personal experience). A shot of one of the many rust penetrants could do the trick. Best of luck
Check your fuses or the wireing or the bulb.
