yellow paintwork - blend or not?
3 Answers
hi, i have an 04 year audi a3 in yellow.
someone hit it on a car park and drove off.
anyway its been repaired and painted now twice, both occasions the yellow doesn't match, there is a lot of underspray and even a run by petrol cap. The salesman says its a blending issue and that the blend hasn't taken correctly so needs re-blending. The managing director says my colour cant be blended as it will go orange. I dont know who to believe, even though this garage has a contract with porsche, audi, vw and merc to name a few for body repairs and has passed quality inspection twice. Its now booked in a 3rd time to be re-done again but the main question is CAN IT BE BLENDED???

Paint only runs when you have sprayed too much on in the first place...but that can be cut back when it dries.
If you have overspray it needs to be compounded out...
They are both fobbing you off and think they can get away wiyh it....approach the managing director again and tell him you are going to put a notice in your window wherever you park your car....
Paintwork recently completed by .....?@?@@@/XX? ....unless they do the job properly and spray the whole panel..

If you want an exact matching Yellow, maybe you'd benefit from going to Audi?
If not, apart from trying a couple of Bodyshops ect your only left with 1 option, a COMPLETE re-spray.
Is it noticeable in general? if not, then why bother going through the hassel / paying for something that can be left as it is
