I have cover to drive any car within the UK. i was driving my mates car one night,
Got pulled over by T5 as it flashed up with no insurance, as i did not have my papers on me at the time.
Mr policeman offloaded my car to the local inpound at a cost of £170. I have been to court and i have shown them my papers etc etc, and allso had them stamped..
as for the matter of £170 would i be able to reclam this as my papers where VAILD and upto date?
im sure people will say that having the car inpounded was right thats not the problem but at a cost of £170 when i was in cover is there anyway of getting this money back from the yard or so for the police... any help would be nice and thanxs for your input.

Did the car you were driving have any insurance, and were you driving with teh insured's permission?
I'm confused. Did you go to court and get the case dropped?
Could you try to retype in something resembling english?
This is a result of a badly framed law introduced to tighten up enforcement of vehicle insurance.

The law allows the police to seize and impound a vehicle they reasonably suspect (and for which there is no immediate proof to the contrary) of being driven without the necessary insurance. There is no right of appeal.

Another law allows drivers to not carry their insurance details, inasmuch as they have 7 days to produce said details in the event of them being suspected of driving without the necessary insurance.

Thus two laws exist which do not adequately marry up and leave us in this situation whereby a driver may comply with one law and fall foul of the other.
