Oil type for a 1996 Astra

Am in the middle of nowhere in Devon but need 2 get oil for the engine of my Astra (petrol, 1.6 with 135000 on click) first thing in the morning. Wot type shud I get to top it up in case there is no reference booklet? Thk u ABers

15w40 standard engine oil .. nothing fussy ... will do fine.
I would have said 10w 30-40-50 but at highish mileage, better a bit more viscous.
Get from a large supermarket or motorist spares place .. not a main road garage (unless you like being ripped off on price)
